Our campers come from all areas of Alberta and Western Canada to experience a week of learning new skills in a safe yet challenging environment and leave with a sense of achievement and appreciation of their own abilities.
Campers, counselors and volunteers participate in group activities such as swimming, hiking, challenge ropes, archery and arts & crafts. They also learn about Alberta's rich environmental resources and history. The local Fire Department, Redwood Meadows, joins us at camp for the annual water fight. A true highlight camp.
Camp is not all about fun and games. Camp helps to create a valuable network of friends and mentors that aid campers in their continued struggle as a burn survivor. The friendships created here last a lifetime.
The Alberta Fire Fighters Burn Camp in partnership with Easter Seals Camp Horizon hosts a week long camp for young burn survivors. Camp is held in August of each year and 70 campers between the ages of seven to 17 attended camp. Doctors, Nurses and Fire Fighters donate their time as organizers, medical staff and mentors. Burn camp can be a life changing event for many of the kids who attend.
The success of Burn Camp relies on the friendships created with fire departments and their firefighters, burn foundations and private companies across Alberta and beyond.
